Electromagnetic radiation is a form of energy that travels in waves through space. Some waves are extremely short (gamma rays have a wavelength that is shorter than the size of an electron) and some are extremely long (radio waves can be the size of a baseball or a soccer field). The shorter the wavelength, the more energy and the greater the frequency (waves per second). The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of all the possible frequencies of electromagnetic radiation.
